Ch, Ch, Ch, Changes

Hello! It's been a long time since I have visited this space. For a few different reasons, but I'll get to that another time... For now, I just want to address the changes to this website and in my personal path.

Though it's been less than a year since I launched Herb and Fleur, I've come to see what works for me in my new life and what doesn't. My original goal was to start something similar to what I had before in California. I wanted to start a florist business, where I could do weddings, events, pop ups, and work my way up until I could quit my job and open up a small storefront. Though that is a great plan, and I did get to do a few weddings and pop up shops, it wasn't really fitting into the time I had. I currently work a 9-5 (8:30-4:30 to be exact) Mon-Fri, so I really only had minimal time give. I also wanted to start a little online French market (moving into a storefront once I got one), and I thought the perfect foot in the door for me would be through imported French market bags. I bought a shipment, and sold a few here on this site! And I kept some for myself :) But realistically, I just do not have the resources to grow an online business that requires keeping up with inventory and shipping (I don't even have a car! haha) I'll backlog this idea for another time, because it's sounds like a place I'd like to exist.

What I do find myself doing a lot that I really enjoy and doesn't demand anything from me, other than my time (when I can/want to), is freelancing. So I decided that's what this space is. A space for me to connect with other florists that are looking for an extra hand for a weekend or two, or a whole season. I do put myself out there for smaller scale weddings and events, because that's what I'm capable of doing. They'll be far and few between, but I'll cherish them all the more. I also do plan to make myself available for pop up shops during busy flower holidays!

All in all, I'm just re-claiming my name, no official shiny business plans, and putting myself out there to take any flower related opportunities that may come my way!

Also, this blog, on this tiny, quiet corner of the inter-web, is for me to document, process, and work through life. So, mom (if she even reads this), Shayna, hi! I'm back :)

xx, Claudia

What can you do but move forward? So much gratitude in my heart for a sunny day 🌞
I was lucky enough to marry into the Lapeña family, a loving, fun, and vibrant group of people. This past week our family suffered an irreplaceable loss, my brother-in-law Jonan. He was a huge part of making us lively, he always laughing, cracking jokes, and so genuinely happy to be surrounded by his family. I am so sad to say goodbye to him, and my heart aches for all the family memories and moments he won't physically be there for. Rest in peace Jonan, you are so loved and missed by many. -- A Go Fund Me link is in my bio for those who would like to/are able to donate towards funeral costs. Thank you.

Lemon picking! I've learned so much from my mom in law about being resourceful, for example, pulling over on the side of the road, picking more lemons than you know what to do with, juicing them all and freezing said juice to use for the months to come. 🍋
Happy wedding day, Bailey + Matt! 🌲 loved being a part of your day!
I accidentally made a docu-series in my stories (that no one asked for!) about how I take care of waste in my home! With a very important survey. I also have a giant baby's breath poof in my living room and I can't not take a picture *in* it 🐰
