I've been thinking a lot about my life goals this year and it's a completely overwhelming topic for me. What do I want? Having already had my "dream career," it makes thinking about goals for my future a bit skewed. I am fully aware that my business worked through orchestrated magic that allowed everything to fall into place perfectly. I know starting a business is equal parts just plain, ol' hardwork, but part of why that type of success happens is also that everything around you is ready to receive you and your plans.
With that in mind, I'm a realist and I don't expect lightning to strike twice. If it does, that's a pleasant surprise, but I have to be pro-active and plan for it not to. Now, comes the question again, What do I want? With anything I'm trying to get done or figure out, the best way for me to work through it is to: write. it. out. Make a check list, map, a quick doodle, anything to put my thoughts onto a piece of paper (in this case, a virtual piece of paper) that I can reflect on. I read advice that said when you want to plan for your business or your future, think as big as you possibly can! Like CRAZY, ridiculous kind of big. Not, what do you think you can do based on your (financial, time, physical, education, etc.) limitations? Or, what do you think is actually realistic? NO. THINK BIG! So I made a list of all the crazy things I've dreamed up about my life in the past year and I've written them out. I encourage you to do the same!

-I'd like to have a farm where I grow flowers and produce
-I'd like to have an animal sanctuary on a property my husband and I own

Though these dreams don't sound like impossible goals to reach, they feel very far away to me in my current state. I can't see how these dreams could be realized (and realized in the sense that I am actually able to make a comfortable living) with the limited financial situation I'm in, with the limited time I have available after a full time job, with the constraints of where I am physically (like in MA I mean), etc. But having everything out on paper, I can make connections between my different goals and work toward that general direction without picking one in particular for now, you know what I mean?
I hope you take the time to do this, It's very helpful. And if you already have the one or two goals you're working towards, that's amazing! More power to you and I wish you luck :)
