Yes, the rumors are true. I was featured in the Boston Globe, nbd. - that's my super sass alter ego speaking, but really, a picture of mine was featured in the Globe!! That's nuts!
Here's the scoop (like my little journalist lingo there?), the ladies over at Albertine submitted pictures of mine for a piece that the Globe was doing for Valentine's Day guide, which included gifts, etc. and a big ol' page dedicated to flowers. They picked five florists' work and information to feature, and one of them was yours truly!
It may not be that big of a deal, but to me, it was the validation I needed to feel like there maybe is a little space for me to grow here... I've been hatin' on Boston thinking it was hatin' on me, but it just gave me a little nudge and I'm thankful for it.
Side note, I've got this weird thing where I have anthropomorphized Boston and made it my arch-nemesis... maybe not the healthiest thing to do when you're trying to settle somewhere.
The pop up went well, I didn't sell out (which of course is the goal) and I took a bit of a hit because I didn't make back what I spent on product and supplies, BUT all in all it was so worth it. I got to meet really great people, put my flowers into people's homes, get my name out there and connect with small businesses. I also just saw an out pour of support and love from family and friends who are not even in Boston! haha, so that really made my day :)
Pop ups are always a hit or miss, and though I don't feel that this was a miss, I just had too much product. The event was so well marketed and received that I didn't want to sell out early and have a disappointed potential customer, and so I just bought too much stuff. The way I'm looking at this is that I have a little bit of savings for a reason, I'd rather use that as an investment towards the future of my career, than on... I dunno, a couch or something. So all in all, I'm very thankful I had the opportunity to do this and I NEEDED this.
Also, on the plus side...
I had quite a bit of leftovers! So I brought bouquets to all the ladies in my office, the second one (in the green vase) is for my coworker Joyce. She is the sweetest and always so supportive and encouraging, so I wanted to make her something extra special. And the one here with Pierre is for our landlady. She loooooves him, and sometimes while were at work she'll come down and get him and they'll just hang out upstairs in her house, so we thought it would be sweet for her to receive flowers from her #1 Valentine, Pierre.
Welp, there it is! THANK YOU so much for the continued support whether is be shown in the way of buying a bouquet, checking in on this little site of mine, sending your love via comments and messages on my insta, or telling your friends! It is so, so appreciated.
